DAK LAK TELEVISION REPORTS ON THE CAMBRIDGE ACHIEVERS 2020 IN BUON MA THUON CITY AND BUON HO TOWN

The Cambridge Assessment at International Primary School, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province, in which attracted 500 students to participate. At the exam, students took a test with 50 questions in 30 minutes. That was the first time the exam had been organized at the school so students are ecstatic. The exam opened up opportunities for learners to assess their English learning proficiency to have an effective English learning approach later.

Truong Dung, class 5A2 of the International Primary School, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak province shared: “To us, this is a useful and practical contest, which not only helps us enhace our knowledge but also assert ourselves”. 

After nearly 2 months of launching, the Cambridge Assessment English has intrigued nearly 7000 students from nearly 20 schools in Buon Ma Thuot City and Buon Ho Town. This is a favourable opportunity for students to experience, expand knowledge and assess their English ability in a prestigious international exam.

Not only is the assessment, if students pass the exam, they will also have a chance to participate in the second round provided by the Cambridge Assessment English. Ms Nguyen Thi Thoa - Branch Manager of Ocean Edu Buon Ma Thuot shared: “With more than 800 students participating, Ocean Edu Buon Ma Thuot hopes that this will be an opportunity for them to experience and get used to international exams and be able to achieve high results in the primary exam being held by Ocean Edu in August”.

The English subject in the new educational program is a 10-year program from grade 3 to grade 12 built from the perspective of developing capacity for students, so the Cambridge Assessment has partly evaluated the teaching and learning English quality in schools. This is crucial when preparing for the new educational program due to English subject aims to develop learners' ability to communicate and to use foreign languages ​​as a tool instead of assimilating the traditional knowledge. 

Ms Phan Thi Bich Muoi, Principal of Luong The Vinh Secondary School, said: “The Cambridge Achievers 2020 is a collaboration between Ocean Edu English Center and Luong The Vinh Secondary School, this is also a playground for all students in grade 6, 7,8, allows them to acquire basic to advanced English knowledge. Through the competition, the School can find out many excellent students at English”. 

Mr Rocky - Teacher of Ocean Edu Buon Ma Thuot said: “We would like to encourage students to take the Cambridge Assessment English as this is a certified test all over the world for students wanting to be splendid and work in specific areas. In my point of view, this is essential to help students make better progress and concentrate more on English evaluation tests since if they are wondering about a future career, they can find a satisfactory job. One more thing, at this age, the Cambridge English proficiency test plays an important role in bringing positive effects for students in the future”. 

Taking the Cambridge exam will help students to have better language orientation, make a strong influence on the study, as well as positively supporting both students and parents. Besides, possessing a Cambridge certificate will help students use English as a second language and become global citizens.
