Hi, I am Thev. I come from a psychology background but with loads of experience in the arts. Here in Hanoi, I teach English by day and learn to make stuff by night. Back in Malaysia, I performed a few theatre pieces, sold a bit of art and had an office job that I did not like. I enjoy the outdoors and the arts because I found it as a means to better understand oneself and to grow more comfortable in one's own skin. It helps to build character and confidence which is essential in using the English language proficiently. I am a strong believer in mindfulness-based approaches as it teaches one to be more aware and less judgmental about the information being processed. I consider myself a jack of many skills but master of none. In my free time, I do a little carpentry, doodling some mandalas, jamming with my guitar and exploring new things to learn. I enjoy coaching people and pushing them out of their comfort zone cause only then can you better understand who you are. This is the main reason why I chose my life path as a Teacher/Educator, as much as education is important, it is my responsibility as a teacher to educate the generation that will replace mine on how the world works and to basically be a better human being to not just society but to one's self. To work with Ocean Edu. gives me the opportunity to facilitate holistic environments of learning as I am not only a Teacher but also an outdoor camp facilitator/counsellor for leadership and life skills training. I have more than one and a half years worth of experience in the field of education, a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (Honors) and a 120-hour Advanced TEFL. I speak English as a first language and find it very rewarding to impart my knowledge on to the next generation.
